Transit of Venus
Venus visible between the Earth and Sun, allowed American astronomer, Simon
Newcomb, to calculate the distance between the Earth and the Sun using the
calculations from 1874 & 1882 at 149.59 million kilometers. The Venus
transit happens in pairs every 105 years or
so. See

Brooklyn Bridge

It's magnificent twin towers, breathtaking span, cutting edge
technology, and sheer beauty make Brooklyn Bridge the grandest,
and perhaps the most important structure built in America during
the nineteenth century. It was called "the eighth wonder of the
world."
