  • Triangular Trade

  • Philosophical society is founded in Newport, Rhode Island in 1730 and many wealthy citizens of the colonies travel to the spa in New Port on vacation. Newport becomes an important mercantile town, as the center of the "triangular trade" - "rum produced in New England distilleries is exchanged for black slaves from Africa, and the slaves are then traded for sugar and molasses from the West Indies."   • Independence Hall started
