In 1714, John Vardeman of Appoquinimink Creek, New Castle County,
Delaware died bequeathing to his wife Margaret and his four children;
Johannes, Christopher, William, and daughter Jane Margarita, his entire
lands and plantation. Work
continues today searching for any modern-day descendants of John’s two
sons Johannes and Christopher and daughter Jane Margarita.
The line of his son William has been successfully traced starting with
the 1714 will and William’s marriage to
Magdalena
Peterson in
1720 as recorded in records of the Old Swede’s Church of modern-day
Wilmington
,
Delaware
.
By 1734 William and
Magdalena
lived in
Goochland Co., Virginia then later to Bedford Co.
William, along with his three reported wives had at least seven
children. They were: Jemima, John, William, Peter, James, Maria and
Frances. The roots of our
Vardeman family lines trace back to these children who as pioneers,
explorers, frontiersmen and women took an active role in the making of
our nation. Come and share
the telling of your family history as Jack Vardaman traces our heritage
in common back to these early generations of our ancestors.
Jack Vardaman will be presenting a comprehensive review of his extensive
research to the documented history of the first three generations of the
Vardeman family in America.
