| The Vardeman/Holmes Cemetery is located on the Hap Howard farm (formerly the Holmes farm) adjacent to the mouth of Cedar Creek, near where the Holmes Road and Grigsby Roads join the Preacherville Road, west of Crab Orchard, Kentucky. To drive to the cemetery from Crab Orchard, one must travel 2.7 miles west on Highway 150 towards Standford. Turn right or north 0.3 of a mile west of the William Whitley Historic Home road onto the Charlie Boone Road and travel approximately 1.5 miles north to where the Charlie Boone Road crosses Cedar Creek. The road is thought to be part of "Skaggs Trace". The Wilderness Trail was actually a system of connecting trails or traces not just one trail. |
