Kelly joined the US Air Force as an Airman (E2) in August 1991. She went to boot camp and law enforcement technical school at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas.  She completed combat training at Fort Dix, New Jersey.  

She was stationed in:

Sembach Air Base in Germany from January 1992 to December 1993.

She went on Temporary Duty Assignment for 3 1/2 months to:

Incirlik Air Base in Turkey in support of Operation Provide Comfort.

She was stationed at Mc Clelland Air Force Base in Sacramento from January 1994 to August 1995.

She went on Temporary Duty Assignment for 3 months to:

King Abdul Aziz Air Base in Dhahran Saudi Arabia in support of Operation Southern Watch. She received the Southwest Asia Service Medal.

She was honorably discharged in August 1995 as a Senior Airman (E4).
