May 1781 Personal diary, Peter Vardeman
and William
Vardeman, sons of Peter Vardeman (Peter Vardeman
I and Prudence), were washing in Cedar Creek (Lincoln County, Kentucky) and Peter
was shot through the thigh and William was tomahawked, about a mile from Whitley’s Old Station.
Peter, about 20 and William,
about 16 or 17 years old.
